NPO Amamina
NPO Amamina is a nonprofit organization based in and serving Amami Oshima for 15 years. Originally created as the "Amamina Project", a public event for the Summer 2008 total solar eclipse in the Amami Islands, NPO Amamina has since evolved into a cultural organization devoted to improving Amami and the lives of its citizens through local and international initiatives and events. The organization is also keen on sharing Amami's beauty with the world, a place that was inducted as a UNESCO world heritage site in 2021.

The convention & symposium with the theme of “STEAM education” has been long postponed due to the Pandemic (Covid 19) since 2020; however, we are very pleased to announce that it finally will be happening this upcoming summer of 2023 at the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Amami Oshima. This will be a place for discussion of the theory and practice related to the theme of “STEAM education” internationally from diverse disciplines.
The Amami Islands were awarded UNESCO World Heritage Site status for their diverse nature & culture in July 26, 2021. The islands are a treasure trove for diverse research on their unique characteristics, called “Amami-gaku (Amami study).”
At the unique and beautiful place of Amami, let’s discuss and exchange our ideas of what is/art “ARTs” in STEAM (Science, Tech, Engineering, Arts and Math) and what should be included, through presentations and workshops. Amami’s beautiful forest, ocean and sky, and also Amami’s islanders, will welcome you.
